We are seeking a strategic and inquisitive senior data scientist to spearhead data-centered projects. In alignment with our primary objective, the senior data scientist will need to define work scopes, delegate tasks, and serve as both the team lead for our Data Science Track program guiding them through real-world projects in the financial services industry and the primary client-facing representative of the program to identify challenges, propose innovative solutions, and demonstrate the value of our program.

Additionally, your expertise in Data Science will be invaluable for consulting on various project facets and beyond. 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on research projects within the Global Data Lab. This involves contributing expertise in data science, machine learning, and related fields to drive forward the lab’s research agenda. Additionally, the role entails staying abreast of the latest developments and trends in data science and machine learning and applying this knowledge to inform and improve ongoing projects and initiatives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients: As the primary point of contact for clients, your role extends beyond mere communication; you become the bridge between Prospect33’s expertise and the client’s needs, ensuring a seamless collaboration that aligns with project objectives and overall business goals.
  • Lead Data Science Projects: Take the lead on data science projects within the Global Data Lab, from inception to completion. This includes defining project objectives, developing methodologies, conducting analysis, and interpreting results to derive actionable insights. The Senior Data Scientist will also be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest standards of quality.
  • Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing: Act as a mentor and knowledge resource for junior data scientists within the lab. This involves providing guidance, support, and mentorship to help develop their skills and expertise in data science and machine learning. Additionally, the Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team, encouraging the exchange of ideas and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other teams and departments across the organization to leverage data science and machine learning capabilities in solving business challenges and driving innovation. This includes working closely with stakeholders to understand their requirements, translating them into data-driven solutions, and effectively communicating findings and insights to non-technical audiences.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and innovation within the Global Data Lab, whether in processes, methodologies, tools, or technologies. This involves staying up-to-date with advancements in data science and machine learning, experimenting with new techniques and approaches, and championing the adoption of best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the lab.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. or Master’s preferred) in a quantitative field such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, or related field.

  • Extensive experience (5+ years) working in a data science or machine learning role within the financial services industry, demonstrating a proven track record of leading complex projects and delivering impactful results.

  • Strong expertise in machine learning, statistical analysis, data mining, and predictive modeling techniques specific to financial services.

  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data science such as Python or R, along with experience using machine learning libraries and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, sci-kit-learn).

  • Familiarity with ML Ops practices and tools, including model deployment, monitoring, and management, tailored for financial services applications.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders within the financial services domain.

  • Strong leadership and mentorship abilities, demonstrated by a track record of leading and developing high-performing teams in the financial services sector.

  • Proven capability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment within financial services, effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, characterized by a keen attention to detail and a passion for continuous learning and improvement within the financial services context.
